The Christian Drift

What is the drift? The dictionary defines drift as a continuous slow movement from one place to another. so, it’s only natural that the Christian drift means that our relationship with God in Christ Jesus is slowly going back to the ways of this world or the old man.

Philippians 3:13 Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before,
Philippians 3:14 I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.

NLT: Philippians 3:13 No, dear brothers and sisters, I have not achieved it, (but I focus on this one thing: Forgetting the past and looking forward to what lies ahead, 14 I press on to reach the end of the race and receive the heavenly prize for which God, through Christ Jesus, is calling us.

Her Paul is reveling how important it is to pursue the calling that each person has on their lives in Christ Jesus, if you are a born-again believer you are called to fulfill a general and a specific call from God (Do you know what they are for you?) There is always a pull that is happening in the spiritual realm and in this physical world, so if we are not intentionally pursuing the calling that God has for us, we will drift back into our old thoughts, habits and beliefs.

Look at what Paul said in Romans 7: 21 (NLT)21 I have discovered this principle of life—that when I want to do what is right, I inevitably do what is wrong. 22 I love God’s law with all my heart. 23 But there is another power[e] within me that is at war with my mind. This power makes me a slave to the sin that is still within me.

Did you catch it ?

There are laws at work in each of us, Let’s choose to press toward the mark of the calling in Christ Jesus today. Sela!
